Community Foundation infuses $32,000 into local projects

Giving Something Back is the pledge the Prince George Community Foundation has lived by since its inception 19 years ago.

In that time almost $1 million has gone into worthy community projects, as the endowment funds have reached more than $7.5 million.

Recipients of adjudicated grants were recognized during the Grant Award Reception on Tuesday at The Exploration Place where about $32,000 was presented to 15 organizations.

Arts and Culture: Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society, Prince George Metis Elders Society, Two Rivers Gallery

Education: Carney Hill Neighbourhood Society, Junior Achievement of BC, Northern BC Children and Families Hearing Society, Project Friendship Society, Northern John Howard Society of BC.

Environment: Caledonia Ramblers Trust

Health: Elder Citizens Recreation Association

Social Services: Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada - P.G. Chapter, Canadian National Institute for the Blind BC-Yukon, Society of St. Vincent de Paul - St. Francis Assisi Conference

Sports and Recreation: Prince George 4-H Senior Council.

"We are pleased to recognize all of these organizations have contributed a great deal to the quality of life in our community and all of them are supported by very dedicated volunteers," said Ray Noonan, president of the foundation. "We are happy to be a part of their successes in the community."
