Prince George has lost one of its strongest community boosters.

Sue Armstrong, operator of Uniglobe Sunbursrt Travel, died Oct. 5 in Vancouver following a brief illness. She was 66.

Describing Armstrong as an "exceptional person", long-time friend and fellow Rotarian, Lorna Dittmar, said she "gave to more charities than you can count."

"More times than not, she would give a wonderful trip anywhere West Jet flies as the main prize in a charity fundraising event. CNIB and cancer were her number one charities, but there were many others lucky enough to have her on board," said Dittmar.

Good friend, Ben Meisner said Armstrong "loved this city and the city loved her in return."

He added she was a person who didn't expect praise, but was content to stay in the background and make things work without expecting a thank you.

"We all owe Sue a thank you today."

Mrs. Armstrong is survived by husband, Bob, son Mike Loreth, daughter Deb Nielsen, step-daughter September Dixon, and stepsons Steve and Doug Edwardson and Kevin Armstrong.

"And all the girls at Uniglobe were like my mom's kids," said Loreth.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 16 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
