City hall has launched a public survey to get feedback about Prince George’s community associations, the programming they deliver and the value they provide.

There are seven community associations - Beaverly, Blackburn, College Heights, the Crescents, the Hart, the South Bowl, and the West Bowl - each operating as a society with connections to the city for the promotion of programming, training, and access to facilities.

Currently, they maintain 19 neighbourhood ice rinks each winter and provide a range of recreational programming for residents, often in school gyms and fields. Last year, they offered 125 recreation programs.

The review is intended to identify emerging trends and issues, assess options related to effectiveness and efficiency and to adopt improvements to help sustain the community association system over the long term.

“Prince George is an active, vibrant city and community associations have played a role in delivering affordable neighbourhood recreation programs, events, and ice rinks for decades,” said the city's community coordinator, Cheryl Livingstone-Leman.

“This review will help to set the stage for how our community associations will function into the future and the survey is an important part of how we’re collecting input.”
