A free college course called Street Humanities will be offered at the College of New Caledonia in an effort to increase access to education.
CNC is holding an open house Wednesday to promote the program, which is funded by it and Advocating for Women & Children.
Rachelle Munchinsky, a CNC coordinator for community and aboriginal education, said the program is open to all communities members even if they don't have their high school diploma.
"Anyone interested in pursuing education again, no matter what their life circumstances are, should come to our open house and see how they can kick-start their learning journey again," she said in a statement.
The release said its aim is to offer marginalized people the opportunity to experience post-secondary education as a way to start "gradual integration into college life."
The program covers a number of things including meals, bus passes, and tuition. It will include speakers, activities, study and discussion groups, and an educational and emotional support network, the release said.
The open house includes a bagged lunch and runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 1-723. Guests are asked to RVSP with Munchinsky at 250-562-2131 ext. 5319.
