College of New Caledonia will host an online seminar on racism this Sunday.
It will run from 2 to 4 p.m. to mark International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
For the first hour, a series of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color representatives will hold small group discussions and share recent experience with the issue.
During the second hour, a panel will discuss theories of systemic racism and commitments for confronting and combating racism.
“The experiences of many members of the CNC community offer us diverse perspectives to foster greater discussion,” said Dr. Tamara Chambers-Richards, CNC’s dean of health sciences and leader of an on-going decolonizing education discussion group at the college. “Sharing these experiences and engaging in dialogue can give us a shared path forward to better understand and build more inclusive communities.”
