High school football season is over in Prince George.

This past weekend, the College Heights Cougars (CHSS) saw their 2019 season come to a close with playoff losses on home turf for both the senior AA and junior AA varsity programs.

On Saturday (Nov. 9), the senior Cougars lost their provincial wild-card game to the Clarence Fulton Maroons by a score of 35-8 at Masich Place Stadium, depriving them from a chance to play in B.C. Place this week.

College Heights was up against the number-two secondary school out of the interior conference (Vernon), who now move on to the quarter-finals.

They finished northern conference play as the 2019 regional champions, winning their first P.G. Bowl in seven years, defeating the (undefeated) Nechako Valley Vikings 20-14 and compiling a 4-1 record.

In junior varsity, the Cougars were unable to score a single point in their quarter-final match, falling to South Kamloops 42-0 earlier that day at Masich.

CHSS was the only team from their respective northern conference to move on to the playoff round after winning the title game 26-24 over the Duchess Park Junior Condors.

They put together a 4-1 regional record before exiting the playoffs.

Nechako Valley was also eliminated from senior AA post-season, losing to Windsor Secondary of North Vancouver Saturday afternoon in Prince George.

The Vanderhoof program was downed 20-8 in the wild-card showdown by the Dukes, who were the third-ranked school out of the western conference.
