A smoky skies bulletin has been issued for the Prince George area as a cold front moving east across the Prince George Fire Centre which has brought smoke to the city.

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says windy conditions are carrying smoke toward Prince George along Highway 16 from Vanderhoof.

These winds are also bringing smoke from fires located within the Cariboo Fire Centre into the Prince George Fire Centre.

Smoke is expected to continue tracking east and northeast as this front passes through.

The air quality advisory has been issued for the Prince George and Stuart Nechako areas and parts of the north Cariboo due this wildfire smoke.

The smoke is travelling northeastward as a result of the passing cold front moving over a number of wildfires in the VanJam zone and parts of the Cariboo Fire Centre.

These regions are being impacted or are likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke over the next 24-48 hours.

A Smoke forecast map is available online through https://firesmoke.ca. You can also select the smoke forecast layer on the BC Wildfire Service public mobile app, available for all iOS and Android devices.
