It was a cold 20-hours for Prince George RCMP involved in a standoff at Nukko Lake which ended peacefully early Monday morning when a 48-year-old armed man surrendered without incident.
The occurrence began for police around noon Sunday when a complaint was received about a domestic assault with a firearm occurring Saturday near Nukko Lake, located northwest of Prince George.
When police attended they determined that a man was alone with a firearm in a residence.
RCMP emergency response unit, police dog services and negotiators were called out to assist and general duty members, totalling about a dozen personnel.
Following many hours of surrounding the residence and on and off negotiations by telephone, the man surrendered peacefully about 8 a.m. Monday.
RCMP are recommending that charges of pointing a firearm and uttering threats be laid against the man.
