Quesnel student Avery Bell won a regional cabinetmaking competition in Prince George as part of the College of New Caledonia's Skills BC Provincial team.

A member of the College of New Caledonia's team came back victorious after the Provincial Skills Canada British Columbia Competition in Abbotsford last week.

Avery Bell placed first in the provincial competition for cabinetmaking after earning the top rank in a regional competition in Prince George. Bell goes to school in Quesnel at Correlieu Secondary school in Quesnel.

CNC's provincial team also included two Prince George students who have a knack in the kitchen. Angela Harkens, a CNC professional cooking student and Laura Parent, a Kelly Road secondary student, both competed in the culinary arts category. CNC Dean of Trades and Technologies said the college is proud of the students' accomplishments.

"While some of them are not CNC students, they still represented our city and region, and did an amazing job," said Frank Rossi in a statement.

"We wish Avery the best of luck at nationals and we hope to see all of our competitors return to the regional competition in January."

Bell is eligible to compete in the nationals in Moncton, N.B. in early June.
