The College of New Caledonia’s board approved a balanced budget Monday for the fiscal year 2017/18.
After posting a decade of deficits, the college also passed a balanced budget last year.
Tuition will again increase by two per cent for the coming year.
In September, the dental hygiene program will return, along with additional lab support for health science programs, an extra aboriginal studies instructor to meet student demand, a health care aide section at the Vanderhoof campus and increased counseling services for students at all campuses.
The budget also includes additional funding for the trades program at several campuses.
"This is a time of growth for CNC," said Lee Doney, CNC's board chair. "We have come through some challenging years, and solid fiscal management is allowing us to reinvest in students and the communities we serve."
Doney will remain as board chair, Prince George resident Gil Malfair will serve as vice chair, while Mary Sjostrom from Quesnel returns to her position as vice chair, regions.
Applications are on the rise heading into the fall semester, with increased interest in programs including criminology, fine arts, kinesiology, nursing, business administration, information technology and human resources.
