CNC found out the non-profit needed a new computer, and so it offered a replacment

"Our contemporary reliance on computers means that literacy extends beyond just reading and writing," said Alison Anderson, CNC's acting associate dean, in a release Wednesday.

"Computers are an invaluable tool for the work of Literacy PG. We thought that there was no better way than this to honor the spirit of Raise a Reader Day."

The used computer is expected to last the committee another four to five years.

The local literacy group works to connect literacy providers with learners and has offered tutor training workshops, parent-child reading programs, plain language workshops, and seniors' reading programs.
