Canadian National Railway's (CN Rail) Prince George payroll will increase by 25 employees once a $3.2-million expansion of its north yard is completed by the end of this year to meeting rising Chinese demand for lumber.

The processing capacity will be increased from 400 to 700 containers per week for shipment by rail to the Prince Rupert container facility for export overseas, a CN Rail official said Thursday during a media event held to provide details on the project.
