Jennifer Clyne earned the PACWEST athlete of the week honours after a strong performance for her hometown University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves' women's basketball team on the weekend.

The fifth-year forward tallied 30 points in a pair of wins over the Kwantlen Eagles and Langara Falcons, helping the T-wolves improve to 8-0. Against the Eagles, Clyne had 20 points and was four-of-five from the three-point line in 20 minutes of playing time.

Clyne's performance gives her 104 points this season, putting her sixth among the PACWEST scoring leaders despite missing the final two games before the Christmas break.

In men's action, James Blandford of Camosun College was named PACWEST athlete of the week, posting 20 points and six rebounds as the Chargers knocked off the Capilano University Blues 91-63.

Blandford then contributed 15 points, 12 rebounds Saturday as the Chargers swept their weekend games with a 68-58 win over the Quest University Kermodes.

The women T-wolves remain third in the Canadian Colleges' Athletic Association rankings behind the Dawson College Blues and Grant MacEwan Griffins, while the men from UNBC moved up to 14th in the CCAA rankings after wins over the Eagles and Falcons.

This weekend both T-wolves teams are on the Lower Mainland for games Friday against Douglas College and Saturday against the Columbia Bible College Bearcats.

After a bye week, the UNBC teams play their final home games of the season Feb. 3 and 4 against the Capilano Blues and Quest University.
