City's unemployment rate drops

The city's unemployment rate stood at 6.8 per cent in November, a 0.4-percentage-point decline from the month before, according to Statistics Canada labour market survey numbers released Friday.

The city's unemployment rate stood at 6.8 per cent in November, a 0.4-percentage-point decline from the month before, according to Statistics Canada labour market survey numbers released Friday.

However, the number of people holding down jobs declined by 800 to 49,400 while the number of working age but not seeking employment rose by 1,100. The total unemployed but seeking work stood at 3,600, a decline of 300 people.
