The first bargaining talks of the new year between the city and their unionized staff will take place Tuesday morning.
Members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees locals 1048 and 399 submitted a new offer to the city on Sunday.
CUPE 1048 president Janet Bigelow would not discuss details of the offer, but said it was in response to a proposal the city put forward in December.
The roughly 500 union members have been without a collective agreement since the previous five-year contract expired on Dec. 31, 2012.
Tense negotiations followed, with the city employing a Vancouver-based labour lawyer to lead their team and the union conducting their first strike, which took place over one day on Dec. 14.
A final offer vote conducted by the B.C. Labour Relations Board for a four-year contract with no wage increases for the first two years and two per cent increase for the final two years was rejected by 82 per cent of union members who cast ballots Nov. 28, 29.
