City of Prince George crews will be doing routine checks on fire hydrants throughout the city this week.

The checks, which began on Monday, are part of the city's annual maintenance plan to ensure it's infrastructure is working correctly.

The checks will be done on Irwin Street (from Fifth Avenue to Harper Street), Gillet Street (from Fifth Avenue to 12th Avenue), Freeman Street (from Eighth Avenue to 15th Avenue), Carney Street (from 10th Avenue to 15th Avenue), Ellison Drive (from Ewert Crescent to Carney Street) 12th Avenue (near Lethbridge Street), Laurier Crescent (from 10th Avenue to Winnipeg Street) and Mcbride Crescent (from 10th Avenue to Winnipeg Street).

During the tests, some people may have cloudy water coming from their taps and lower water pressures, a statement released by the city on Monday said. If that happens, simply run the tap until the water runs clear – the water will remain safe to drink.

Any residents who experience ongoing issues related to the tests can call the city by dialling 311.
