A Kelly Road secondary school student is trying to organize a province-wide sit in to protest the ongoing conflict between teachers and the provincial government.

"I'm pretty upset about it and I think students in British Columbia should be upset about it as well,"Amanda Tomm said in a video posted on YouTube. "It's not right to put us in the middle of it."

Tomm went on to say she does not agree with either the B.C. Teachers Federation or the government, saying both are wrong because both are using students as pawns in their battle.

"If all you guys care about is our education, you shouldn't be sacrificing it to get your way," Tomm said.

Tomm called on students to stage sit-ins at their respective schools on Wednesday.

"All the students will go to the gym, the multipurpose room, the common room or wherever you may choose, and you're going to sit there," Tomm said. "And you're going to sit there until something changes because how else can we get noticed?"

On Tuesday, placard-bearing students from at least three high schools - Kelly Road, Prince George secondary and Duchess Park - held protests against the rotating strikes by teachers and the government's partial lock out against them.
