City selling naming rights to new pool multipurpose rooms

The City of Prince George is accepting bids for the naming rights of the two multipurpose rooms at the Canfor Leisure Pool.

The City of Prince George is looking for a naming rights sponsor for the two multipurpose rooms at the Canfor Leisure Pool, which fully opens to the public on Nov. 14.

Bids have been open since Oct. 6, and the deadline to submit a bid is Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.

“The Canfor Leisure Pool is on target to open in late 2022 with annual pool visits estimated to reach over 200,000 per year,” according to information posted on the city’s website. “The two multipurpose rooms overlook the main pool area and are available for bookings.”

Some of the amenities offered by the new pool include a waterslide; a NinjaCross obstacle course which can be raised to the ceiling when not in use; a six-lane 25 m lap pool; a four-lane, 25 m teaching pool; a leisure pool with lazy river, play features and beach-style entrance; viewing area; two multi-purpose rooms; sauna and steam room; accessible shower rooms; and dedicated male and female change rooms, along with a large universal change room.

In May, city council approved a five-year naming rights agreement for the pool with Canfor (Canadian Forest Products Ltd.). Under the deal, Canfor pays the city $75,000 per year for the naming rights, and has the option to extend the deal for another five years at the end of the current deal in May 2027.
