Inspiring minds want to know.

The City of Prince George is asking community members and groups with awe-inspiring ideas to apply for a Celebrate Prince George Community Grant.

"The Celebrate Prince George Community Grant provides financial support to event planners and organizers who demonstrate that funding assistance will enhance their current event or help them to develop a new event that focuses on attracting visitors," said city civic event coordinator Jennifer Tkachuk.

"I think this is a great opportunity for new organizations holding new events and also for those who want to grow their events but don't have opportunities to do so because of funding," Tkachuk said.

The overall objectives of the program include maximizing public events in civic spaces, increasing community pride by supporting local events and organizations providing entertainment and activities for local and visitors, showcasing public facilities and creating a regional tourism draw with the long-term potential of creating known and marketable events for the north.

Prior grants have gone to Summerfest, the P.G. Pride Festival and the winter carnival.

Applications are due at midnight on May 15.
