The City of Prince George has launched a new City Fact Check website, to allow residents to submit questions and find answers to commonly-asked questions.

According to a post of the city’s social media channels, city staff will select questions to answer from resident submissions and respond to current hot topics.

“Have you ever had a burning question for the City but haven't known who to ask for more information? Or have you read something about the City on a social media page and wondered if it's fact or fiction?” the city’s Facebook post on the initiative says. “Information travels at an incredible speed, and sometimes it can be difficult to tell truth from misinformation, and opinion from fact.”

As of Wednesday morning, the following topics were listed on the City Fact Check site: are city staff raises linked to higher taxes; are most city capital projects over budget; did the city change its policy regarding building inspections; do city water pipes contain asbestos; and information about the city’s priority schedule for snow clearing.
