Citizens on Patrol played an instrumental role in tracking down a man suspected of harassing a woman on Friday night.
At about 10:25 p.m., Prince George RCMP received a report that a man aggressively approached the woman as she got into her vehicle in a parking lot near Redwood Street at 17th Avenue. He struck the vehicle as she drove away, according to the report.
When a description of the suspect was dispatched, two Citizens on Patrol volunteers who were on duty that night drove to the area where they found a man near Victoria Street and 20th Avenue matching the particulars.
They called in the sighting and several RCMP general duty officers, including a member from the police dog service converged on the male suspect, and the man was taken into custody without incident.
"This is a great example of how our Citizens on Patrol volunteers assist our officers in apprehending suspects" said Prince George RCMP Inspector Brad Anderson. "Their additional observations were essential in this arrest."
Ivan Skin, 23, faces a charge of breach of probation. In June, he had been sentenced to one year probation, as well as 58 days in jail, for assault causing bodily harm.
