The Prince George Citizen took two silver and two bronze as winners of the Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards were announced Saturday night at a gala to celebrate B.C. and Yukon newspaper industry excellence in 46 categories at the River Rock Hotel in Richmond.
Mark Nielsen, reporter for the Citizen, took silver in the Outdoor Recreation Writing category for his story called Mount Edziza a worthwhile challenge, while Brent Braaten, photographer, took silver in the Feature Photo, colour or black and white over 25,000 circulation category, for his picture entitled Marvelous Monday.

In the advertising awards category called the Eclipse Awards, ad campaign, Grace Flack and Debie Hemich, took bronze for their efforts called Northern Health, and for Special Publications over 25,000 circulation, advertising director, Cheryl Stewart and team, took bronze for Profiles of Excellence.

The annual event is sponsored by the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association, which has 100 member newspapers and the Ma Murray awards have been celebrated for almost a century.
