Local businesses are feeling the public love. Two voting processes are drawing attention to the best in local stores, restaurants, service providers, agencies and other economic hotspots.
One is the two-page spread in The Citizen, where the 2015 Readers' Choice Awards have a list of categories - more than 130 options - for picking a local business winner. Some of these include best pharmacy, best ladies wear store, best cell phone dealer, best furniture store, best convenience store, several restaurant choices, and many more.
The voting is underway until June 16 (one ballot per person - ballots are printed in the paper) for the Readers' Choice Awards.
On Monday, The Chamber of Commerce launched their annual celebration of individual businesses. Nominations are now open for their 2015 Business Excellence Awards culminating in the gala awards show and banquet that is so popular on the city's social calendar each year.
While the Citizen Readers' Choice Awards pick winners for business details, the Chamber of Commerce trophies are for important general sectors of business.
"This annual event recognizes businesses and entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence in 11 categories," said Chamber CEO Christie Ray. "Anyone can make a nomination, and any business in the community can be nominated."

Business Person of the Year
Community Impact Award
Corporate Citizen of the Year
Micro Business of the Year
Environmental Leadership Award
Tourism Impact Award
Outstanding Corporate Culture Award
Hell Yeah Prince George Ambassador Award
"The Business Excellence Awards are an opportunity for people to give recognition to the many exceptional businesses in Prince George," said Ray, "We know that pride in our community is growing, and we would love to see the Chamber flooded with nominations this year."
