There is a chance the second-longest run of chinook salmon in North America will have reached Valemount by this weekend.

Gregor Cuddeback, an interpreter at the community's visitor information centre, said Wednesday the run has reached Holmes River, near McBride, and has about 80 kilometres to go to reach Swift Creek at Valemount, 285 kilometres east of Prince George.

Once they have arrived, visitor information centres from Prince George to the Alberta border will be notified. Confirmation can also be received by calling the Valemount location, which is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout August, at 250-566-9893.
