The public will learn more than ever before about the circumstances surrounding the Tasering of a child in Prince George last April when results of a report are revealed tomorrow.

The Prince George RCMP incident was investigated by the West Vancouver Police Department, a probe which is now complete. WVPD's commander, Chief Constable Peter Lepine, is scheduled to be in Prince George today to discuss the findings Thursday.

The child was a client of a care home in the Pineview area of the city when, on April 7, police were called to the residential facility due to allegations that the 11-year-old child had stabbed a care worker and was behaving erratically.

Once there, police apparently resorted to the use of a Taser to bring the boy into custody.

"We are still held to a principle - and we are sensitive that the community wants a timely investigation - of fairness, transparency and that no stone is left unturned," Lepine said on a visit to Prince George in June.

He said the final report would include an assessment by a police use-of-force expert, and a full legal review to ensure it is reflective of foreseeable laws.

Tomorrow afternoon that completed report will be at least partially unveiled to the public.

The incident also faces investigations by the Ministry of Children and Family Development, the B.C. Representative for Children and Youth. Other agencies like the B.C. Civil Liberties Association are considering the case as well.
