Child injured in hit-and-run by semi-trailer truck in Prince George

Prince George RCMP as asking anyone who saw a hit-and-run incident near the intersection of Highway 97 South and 22 Avenue to come forward.

Prince George RCMP are asking witnesses to come forward after a 13-year-old was injured in a hit-and-run incident involving a semi-trailer truck on Wednesday.

The youth was struck by the southbound truck near the intersection of Highway 97 South and 22 Avenue around 9:30 p.m., police say. The youth was taken to hospital by the B.C. Ambulance Service and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the burgundy transport truck did return to the area a short time later and was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident.

The driver is now cooperating with police, and was released pending the results of the full investigation.
