Believed to be the first event of its kind in Canada, B.C. Provincial Court Chief Judge Thomas Crabtree will host a live Twitter town hall on Thurs., April 14 as part of B.C. Law Day.
Running 1-3 p.m., the topics will include access to justice, the future of the justice system, problem solving and First Nations courts and other related issues.
"The Provincial Court wants to engage members of the public in their justice system," Crabtree said in a press release.
"Our recent consultation on online access to criminal court information demonstrated the valuable contribution the public can make to policy decisions. The Twitter town hall is another way the court can engage with the public."
Those interested are invited to tweet a question on or before April 14 using the hashtag #AskChiefJudge. Those without a Twitter account can e-mail them to TwitterTownHall@provincialcourt.bc.ca
Crabtree cannot comment on individual cases, and may not be able to answer all questions during the town hall, but efforts will be made to answer outstanding questions on the court's website after the event.
