A New Hazelton RCMP officer has been charged with a count of assault causing bodily harm, the B.C. Prosecution Service said Tuesday.
The agency it approved the charge against Cst. Eric Andrew Unrau resulted from an on-duty incident alleged to have occurred at the Hazelton RCMP detachment on Sept. 4, 2018.
An information charging Unrau was sworn on Friday in Hazelton Provincial Court and an appearance has been scheduled for March 22.
"As this matter is now before the court, the BCPS is unable to release additional information or comment further at this time," the agency said in a statement.
