A resolution calling for "fair and open access" to the federal government's airport capital assistance program won support from delegates at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting.
The resolution was sponsored by the Prince George Chamber of Commerce and won 97 per cent support without amendment during the AGM, held in Regina, Sept. 17-19.
As it stands, airports in the national airports system, including Prince George, are excluded from accessing the fund. It's long been a sore spot for the Prince George Airport Authority
A second resolution from the Prince George Chamber also passed. Entitled "Supporting Canada's Responsible Resource Development," it called on the federal government to work with provincial and territorial governments to promote global access, in particular western access, for natural resource products.
