The Prince George Chamber of Commerce will be rewarding residents for doing their holiday shopping locally.

Starting on Friday, chamber of commerce staffers will be out at local businesses around town, handing out gift cards. Shoppers can also enter to win weekly prize draws by taking a photo of themselves purchasing from a local business, then posting it to social media tagging the chamber of commerce and using the hashtag #HolidayPG.

“The purpose is to incentivize shoppers to go to think and shop local, while providing the businesses with a built-in marketing campaign they can use, as we will be coming through their businesses to find local shoppers for daily prizes,” chamber CEO Todd Corrigall said. “If we can support our local businesses by adding $20, $50 or $100 to the till this holiday season, we all benefit and this is a great way for the chamber to help encourage everyone to support the businesses that support our community every day."

The promotion runs until Dec. 17, and the weekly prize draws will be held every Friday. The prizes will include $100 gift certificates for local businesses.

In addition, on Dec. 18 there will be a final, grand prize draw for a New Years Eve package for two. Participating local businesses will be entered to win a matching prize in a the final draw on Dec. 18.
