It may not be Q, but Jian Ghomeshi is coming to Prince George.
The award-winning multi-hyphenate will bring an evening of commentary on current events and pop culture to Vanier Hall on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
Mixing unscripted wit, critical opinions and experiences from his storied career of high-profile interviews, Ghomeshi will share his thoughts on the challenges and opportunities presented today.
Ghomeshi is best known as the host of Q, CBC's national daily talk program, which he helped create in 2007. He has interviewed prime ministers, sports figures and cultural icons including Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Barbara Walters, Al Gore and Leonard Cohen.
Ghomeshi took home the Best Talk Show Host prize in 2012 from the New York Festival and his exclusive sit-down with Cohen earned him the festival's gold medal for Talk Show Interview of the year in 2010.
When it comes to music, Ghomeshi isn't on the outside looking in. He first made headlines as a member of folk-rock group Moxy Fruvous, with whom he toured internationally in the 1990s. The singer, songwriter and musician continues to write and produce, manage other acts and be involved with other arts groups such as the National Ballet, Canadian Opera Company and Radio Starmaker Fund.
He released his first book, a memoir entitled 1982, in September 2012. It debuted as a No. 1 Canadian bestseller.
Tickets go on sale Friday for next month's event at the Prince George Citizen's booth at the B.C. Northern Exhibition and at the The Citizen office at 150 Brunswick St. Tickets are $39.95, or $34.95 for students.
