Cause of McBride mill fire determined

An overheated electrical motor was the source of the fire that destroyed a lumber manufacturing plant and major employer in McBride, Fraser-Fort George Regional District said Monday.

An overheated electrical motor was the source of the fire that destroyed a lumber manufacturing plant and major employer in McBride, Fraser-Fort George Regional District said Monday.

In a statement, FFGRD said the Office of the Fire Commissioner has reached the conclusion for the April 5 fire at BKB Cedar Manufacturing Ltd.

Upwards of 35 people worked at the plant in the community of 576 people 220 kilometres east of Prince George.

RCMP have also completed its investigation and has concluded there was no criminal activity, FFGRD added.
