A Carrier Sekani Tribal Council official kicked off Tuesday's hearings into Enbridge's proposed pipeline across northern B.C. on a defiant note with an emphatic rejection of the $5.5 billion project.

"(Enbridge president and CEO) Patrick Daniel asked me what it would take for me to turn no into yes," Terry Teegee, vice-tribal chief for the First Nation, told a rally of around 200 held outside Kitimat's Riverlodge Recreation Centre. "I said to him: 'What is it about no you don't understand?'"
