Expect delays this summer if you travel Highway 97 from the Old Cariboo Highway to Sintich Road.
The province announced Tuesday the first of nine four-laning projects planned for this summer will go to tender this week in Phase 2 of the Cariboo Connector.
The new 3.5-kilometre stretch will tie in with a five-kilometre segment of the highway that was widened last year from two to four lanes.
The province has committed $200 million over the next five years to complete phase two of the Cariboo Connector to increase road capacity to support trade and economic growth.
Once phase two is finished in 2017, half of the 440 kilometres from Cache Creek to Prince George on Highway 97 will be three or four lanes wide.
A stretch of the highway north of 70 Mile House will also be widened to four lanes this year.
