Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in a single vehicle collision on Morfee Mountain Road near Mackenzie at about midnight Sunday. The vehicle had failed to make a turn on the gravel road and had rolled, landing in some bushes.
Mackenzie Fire Department, BC Ambulance and RCMP were at the scene.
The call came from a male who had been involved in the accident. His six-year-old son was with the man and fortunately uninjured. The 47-year-old man was taken to University Hospital of Northern British Columbia with serious injuries.
Police learned there were three other occupants who had left the scene.
Police conducted an immediate search and located one intoxicated and uncooperative male about 100 metres from the collision. He was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
RCMP Traffic Services Collision Analyst secured the scene for their investigation.
Search and Rescue and the Police Dog Service attended the scene to search for the other two occupants, one believed to be the driver of the vehicle.
While making patrols Sunday afternoon, Mackenzie RCMP located the 45-year-old driver and a 20-year-old female passenger walking along the road in Mackenzie B.C. They suffered minor non life threatening injuries.
"The 45 year old male was arrested and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation." Stated Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer.
