The Cowichan Valley Capitals scored single tallies in each period to shut out the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings 3-0 Friday night.
The game was the second of a three-game road trip for the Kings as they were outshot 35-27 by the Capitals, who are in fifth place in the B.C. Hockey League's Island Division at 20-29-2-2.
Even with the loss, the 26-21-0-5 Kings are within two points of the Langley Rivermen - their Mainland Division rivals - for second place in the division.
The Rivermen lost 5-3 to fourth-place Coquitlam Friday night and sport a record of 27-20-1-4.
On Thursday, the Spruce Kings erupted for five straight goals in the second period en route to a 7-3 victory over the Rivermen Thursday.
Braiden Epp gave the Kings an early 1-0 lead in the first period, but the Rivermen replied with goals from Kevan Killistorff and Ben Butcher.
But the Kings didn't panic in the second period. Riley Hawes scored a short-handed marker to get the equalizer followed by Brogan O'Brien and Michael Buonincontri with a pair of goals. Epp scored his second of the game and capped the hat trick at the 8:29 mark of the third period.
Prince George outshot the Rivermen 37-28 as Kings netminder Alex Brooks-Potts picked up his 11th win of the season.
They wrap up the trip tonight in Victoria and return to northern B.C. Sunday.
They return to the road for a two-game trip on Feb. 19 and 20 against Langley and Surrey respectively.
