Canfor Pulp has received, as expected, approval from the federal government for its $100 million upgrade to the recovery boiler at its Northwood Pulp mill in Prince George.
The project, which is eligible for federal funding under a $1-billion Conservative government subsidy program, is expected to significantly reduce odours and fine particulate air pollutants at the mill.
The company has already undertaken some preliminary work - including engineering and some foundation work - but the bulk of the construction is planned for the months of August and September in 2011 during a plant shut down.
