The B.C. Cancer Agency Centre for the North has received a gold award for infrastructure from the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnership.
The facility, which opened for patient treatment earlier this month, was designed and built via a public-private partnership with a company called Plenary Health. In addition to designing and building the facility, the private company is responsible for maintenance for the next 30 years.
"We are honoured to receive this recognition for the B.C. Cancer Agency Centre for the North," cancer agency president Dr. Max Coppes said in a news release. "I would like to thank all of our partners, including Plenary Health, who helped transform a blueprint into a stunning new cancer facility. The presence of a new treatment centre the North means a greater number of communities now have cancer care closer to home."
