To help ensure that the new BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North facility will provide the best environment for patient care, two fully functional "mock-up rooms" have been built at the construction site for health professionals to provide feedback on before actual rooms are constructed, according to a BC Cancer Centre news release.

"Building the mock-ups of key areas of the centre is a critical part of making sure the design meets the clinical needs of the team that will be using the space," said Hal Collier, Chief Project Officer with the Northern Cancer Control Strategy.

The rooms are being reviewed for suggested changes and enhancements, such as correct positioning of diagnostic and computer equipment, and appropriate use of materials and colours.

"Giving the medical professionals an opportunity to see and work with the actual equipment in an exact replica of key spaces in the building helps us refine the final plan and also gives the construction team a three dimensional template to check their work as they build the rest of the centre," said Collier.
