The petition campaign to force city hall to hold a referendum on the new Prince George RCMP detachment has picked up some steam although organizer Eric Allen says it remains an uphill battle to meet the threshold to trigger a vote.
The effort received a bit of a break when the deadline for the alternate approval process currently underway was extended by two weeks to Dec. 30 after the Citizen failed to run a second ad from the city outlining the process.
Allen has also dropped off "elector response forms" at several businesses around town that residents can sign and leave for pickup rather than having to drop them off at city hall during business hours.
They're available at Barb's Place (6545 Hart Highway), Hart Pioneer Centre (6986 Hart Highway), Hart Wheel Inn Restaurant (6055 Monterey), Spruceland News (Spruceland Mall), Roger's Custom Meats (1801 First Ave.), Fatburger (Westgate Shopping Centre) and CH Convenience Store (7090 Domano Blvd.)
