Those who are 55+ can join programs at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club this month, weather and snow conditions permitting.
The classic cross country ski lessons and tours are set for Jan. 15 and snowshoe tours are set for Wednesday, Jan. 17.
Registration deadline is Sunday, Jan. 7 at noon.
The ski club is offering a classic cross-country ski lesson from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15 followed by three weeks of instructional guided classic cross-country ski tours on January 22, 29 and February 5 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The lessons and tours are for all levels and participants will learn techniques to assist on various terrain.
Registration is required. There is a $10 registration fee.
The club is offering three weeks of guided snowshoe tours from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on January 17, 24 and 31. The tours are for all levels of snowshoers.
There will be one group for seniors with mobility or other health issues touring shorter distances at a slower pace. Registration is required. There is a $7.50 registration fee.
Non-members must purchase half-price trail use passes each week; rentals are available at a 50 per cent discount for seniors/55+ on program dates.
Half-price ski rentals will be $10.36, and trail passes $12.50 (includes taxes).
Half-price snowshoe rentals will be $5.88, and trail passes $4.36 (includes taxes).
If you are renting and/or need a trail-use pass please arrive by 12:30 p.m. Everyone should be in the stadium in front of the rental office with equipment on by 12:55 p.m.
After the programs, participants are encouraged to attend the social at the lodge for a hot drink and a snack from 2:30 to 3 p.m.
Donations of baking are welcome or dropping some change into the donation box to help offset the costs of the social is also appreciated.
