Residents at Cluculz Lake are anxious for the mystery of two cabin fires to be solved.

"We're nervous out here all right. We're just not sure what is happening," said long-time resident Fred Doig.

"I get up at 4 a.m. every morning and have a look around," said Doig, noting the subject of the burned-down cottages arises every day among his coffee group.

"But we just haven't heard anything more."

It was August 19 and Aug. 27 that two side-by-side cabins burned to the ground on Meier Road East.

The cause has not yet been determined for either.

RCMP Stf. Sgt. Dave Beach of the Vanderhoof detachment said Tuesday that related evidence has been sent to the RCMP lab and the results have not yet been released .

"Since there was no loss of life or injury from the fires, it is not a high priority. But we are concerned,"said Beach.

"Hopefully, they were simply two fires, but with one burning on Thursday and another a week later, it just doesn't sit right. Our feeling is something is going on," said Beach who continues to gather evidence from people in the area.

"Both fires were bad,"said Doig who lives about 300 yards away along the water's edge.

"But it could have been worse. The wind blew the sparks toward the water."

In both cases, occupants of the cabins were not home at the time of the fires.
