A Prince George's businessman's claim his rights under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms combined with financial trouble entitle him to legal counsel at the public's expense has been rejected.

In written judgment issued last week, B.C. Supreme Court Justice Glen Parrett turned down an application from Lawrence Bernard Le Francois, who is trying to appeal 2008 convictions of uttering threats and making harassing telephone calls.
