The latest regional internet portal has opened for doing business in this area.
Special websites have been designed by Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) to attract business and industrial investment into northern B.C. On Tuesday, a new one officially launched, this one tailored to the Cariboo, Chilcotin and West Coast.
"Invest Cariboo-Chilcotin Coast BC is an interactive website that showcases where the best investment opportunities and major projects are located in this stunning region...one of the province's most historic and well-travelled regions," said Joel MacKay, NDIT's director of communications.
MacKay explained that the portal, "uniquely branded around the region's ties to the forestry sector, is the first of its kind" to promote investment opportunities specifically in the Cariboo-Chilcotin Coast part of the north.
The site features an interactive map that identifies key major projects and investment opportunities throughout the region, including specific details about each project.
In addition, the website includes comprehensive profiles of regional communities and relevant information to showcase the Cariboo-Chilcotin Coast as a preferred place to invest.
"I applaud the work [NDIT] is doing on behalf of our community and region to spur economic development," said Mayor Mary Sjostrom of Quesnel. "By collaborating on innovative initiatives such as this one, we strengthen our individual economic diversification programs, while broadcasting the area's investment opportunities to the world."
The Invest Cariboo-Chilcotin Coast BC portal is the fourth and final of its kind. NDIT previously launched Invest Northwest BC, Invest North Central BC, and Invest Northeast BC. MacKay said these altogether were "the first investment portals of their kind in B.C. and were launched in 2012, quickly earning tremendous support from the business community and investors both in B.C. and abroad."
