The Naked Entrepreneur believes now is the time for Prince George to get its grown-up business pants on.
Business professor and TV host Sean Wise, seen on the Oprah Winfrey Network and RogersTV, will be in Prince George on Tuesday to help the Innovation Central Society and Startup Canada stimulate the local side of our economy.
"He believes that now is the perfect time to dream big, follow your passion and create your own path to success, and will talk about why now is the best time to be an entrepreneur," said ICS executive director Matt Hutcheon.
"We are excited that Dr. Wise is able to visit Prince George and share with our entrepreneurial community his enthusiasm for starting businesses now."
Wise is a longtime business mentor on a nation scale in Canada. He was an advisor to the CBC television program Dragon's Den, wrote a business column for the Globe & Mail newspaper, and has authored five books so far. He is considered an expert in venture capital and startups and teaches these programs at Ryerson University. In 2014, he was named Entrepreneurial Mentor of the Year by Startup Canada.
His discussions in Prince George will focus on mitigating the risks when you first launch a business, so your startup stands a better chance of getting to its feet and staying there.
"The money required to start a business is now significantly less than it has ever been," Wise said. "Today you can launch more quickly, and global markets are available from day one, from anywhere. In many ways, entrepreneurship has never been more accessible, more available, than it is now."
Wise will run his seminar on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Hubspace (Third Avenue and Dominion Street).
Tickets are $20 or $15 for students, available from the eventbrite.ca website.
