Leona West and her fiance Dwayne Joseph still can't believe they were the winners of the Global TV dream wedding contest. Not only did the couple win and are getting married in June in Mexico, they won by a landslide of 1,200 votes.
"We ran away with the prize according to the votes," said West. She and Joseph campaigned through Burns Lake and tried to get the word out through social media about the contest but now that they have won, the reality of choosing the friends or family member who will go to Mexico for free is causing some stress.
"I know I'll get it all figured out but our families are huge, so it's really tough to figure it out," said West. Guaranteed on the list are the couples two daughters, their parents which leaves four empty spots.
West estimates her family alone has more than 200 hundred people in it presently and Joseph's is just as big.
"If we had the wedding in Burns Lake there probably would have been 400 people invited, so to cut it down to 10 free flights in difficult," said West.
A lot of her friends and family have said they will fly down on their own dime to watch the couple of eight years get married.
"So many of us haven't been outside of Canada - so we can't wait for this adventure. We are very very excited," said West.
