Burns Lake biathlete ready for relay at world championships in Czechia

Emily Dickson of Burns Lake competed in the women's 10 km pursuit Tuesday at the International Biathlon Union world championships in Nove Mesto, Czechia.

Burns Lake biathlete Emily Dickson will be back on track Saturday at the International Biathlon Union world championships in Nove Mesto, Czechia.

The 26-year-old will be part of the Canadian team in the women’s 4 X 6 km relay.

On Tuesday, Dickson finished 57th in a field of 93 skiers in the women’s 15 km individual event.

She shot 17-for-20 and crossed the finish 7:03 behind gold-medalist Lisa Vittozzi of Italy.

Earlier in the championships, Dickson was 52nd in the pursuit, after a 57th-place result in the sprint race.

Emma Lunder of Vernon was the top Canadian in the individual event, placing 41st, 5:27.3 off the winning pace after three misses on the range.

Benita Peiffer of Whistler was 56th (+6:57.1, three misses) and Nadia Moser of Whitehorse was 61st (+7:11.3, four misses).
