Prostate Cancer Support Group
Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kordyban Lodge, 1100 Alward St., formed by the Rotary Club of Prince George, the Prince George Prostate Cancer Support Group (PGPCSG) has been designed to meet a specific need identified by the community for an open forum that men and their families living with prostate cancer can utilize to share their stories and learn more about this disease that no longer has to be a death sentence. Canada Day volunteers needed
Friday all day at Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park the Multicultural Heritage Society of Prince George that hosts the event each year is looking for volunteers to help with the event. People are needed who can face paint, hand out programs, pins and flags to people in the park, provide parking and gate security and gophers to provide helping hands when needed are asked to call the society office at 250-563-8525.
Goodsir Nature Park
Friday to Sunday stroll through this all-Canadian botanical park with groomed trails and picnic grounds during the Walk the Country event. Refreshments and guided tours available to learn about 200 different kinds of trees, shrubs and wildflowers, as well as view a beaver pond, navigate trails and explore an indoor plant museum. Caledonia Ramblers hike
Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Caledonia Ramblers will be leading an easy to moderate hike to Blackwater West, part of the Alexander Mackenzie Heritage Trail, 80 km southwest of Prince George. The hike will cover 10-15 kilometres and take 6-8 hours over gentle slopes.
Please meet 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 8 a.m. in the parking lot behind Prince George City Hall. The carpool fee is $8. Club membership is $30 per year plus $7 for each additional family member. Newcomers are allowed two free trips before deciding whether to join.
