Celtic Harp and Voice concert

Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Prince George Conservatory of Music, 3555- 5th Ave.,  Caroline Mackay who now lives in the South Okanagan, will perform the dazzling rhythmic music of Ortiz and new Canadian compositions, including her own, as well as those ethereal favourites of the folk and Celtic traditions. Caledonia Ramblers overnight trip

Saturday and Sunday the Caledonia Ramblers will be leading an overnight trip up the Eagle Valley Creek trail, southwest of McBride. The trip is rated moderate to strenuous. There is a cabin that holds 10, so some may need to tent, depending on how many are participating. The hike is 9 km to the cabin, located at the foot of a glacier and there are magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. Book Sale

Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 950 Kerry St., there will be a book sale in the gymnasium. Donations of books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles and games gladly accepted and can be picked up. Celtic Harp workshop

Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Prince George Conservatory of Music, 3555-5th Ave.,  an intermediate workshop will revolve around a beautiful relaxed and strengthened technique to deepen tone. Try some Celtic pieces as well as a Latin rhythm, and the use of building blocks for arranging new music. Family Caregiver Series

Saturday, August 13 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 202-575 Quebec St. This is a five-topic, two-day series for family members who are caring for a person with dementia. Learn about dementia, practical coping strategies, and early planning. The Family Caregiver Series covers the topics like understanding dementia, understanding communication, understanding behaviour, planning for the future, and self-care for caregivers. Laughter Yoga in the park

Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Lheidli T'enneh Memorial park, near the bandshell, there will be a laughter yoga session. One of the exercises is giving each other pretend laughter gifts to  open, get surprised and thank the person for gifting it, all with actions and emotions, without words spoken.

Mondays from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Prince George Public Library, Bob Harkins branch, downtown bring your D20 dice to play a fun, interactive game of Pathfinder or D&D at this free drop-in event. Everything’s on hand to help get you started and newbies are always welcome. 

Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Prince George Public Library, Bob Harkins branch, hosts the Library QSA, which is a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit, queer, questioning and straight teens, and teens with LGBTQ families. Teen friends and allies are welcome. The Library QSA is a city-wide group open to all youths in Grades 8 to 12 in Prince George. 

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 to noon explore historic downtown Prince George on this guided tour. Meet the tour guide in the lobby of the Bob Harkins Branch at 11 a.m. Free drop in.

Pokemon Go walking tour goes Wednesdays from 8 to 9 p.m. until Aug. 24, beginning at the Bob Harkins branch downtown. Meet up with other trainers for a guided tour of Pokestops and downtown Prince George landmarks. 

The route will pass in-game locations, beginning at the Bob Harkins Branch, downtown, and ending at the Canada Games Plaza. Free drop in event. 

Storytime in the Knowledge Garden goes Thursdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Join library storytellers for songs and stories. This is a free drop in event.

Breast Cancer Support Group

Offering emotional support, encouragement, and a listening ear. Talk with women who have 'been there, done that' and help each other move forward one day at a time. Heartbeat

Every community experiences death by suicide. When an intentionally self-inflicted death occurs families and friends suffer a magnitude of isolated, complicated grief. Because the grief that follows suicide is different from grief resulting from other causes of death the Canadian Mental Health Association formed HEARTBEAT, a group of mutual support for those who have suffered loss through suicide. Story Time at Books & Co.

Saturdays at 10 a.m. at 1685 Third Avenue enthusiastic storyteller Kayli entertains the children with books and crafts, offering the grown ups a chance to relax in the cafe or browse the bookstore. There is no charge for this event. 

Beginners Yoga 101

First Sunday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at Chinook Yoga Studio, 320 Vancouver St., there's a one-hour free workshop held in a safe environment where everyone is new.
