Rick Stavely concert

Rick Stavely, well-known local country singer, will be entertaining patrons at the Legion, 1116 Sixth Ave., with doors opening at 8 p.m. Friday. Stavely is a Canadian/Nashville recording artist and song writer with seven Canadian country releases. For more information call 250-562-1292.

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day

Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Exploration Place local practitioners will join others from around the world who will gather at 10 a.m. in all time zones to perform the Five Section form to celebrate World Healing Day and then local groups will give demonstrations of their activities. Everyone is welcome to attend the event. 

Dinner, Silent & Live Auction

Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church & Christian School, 180 Tabor Blvd. S., an annual fundraising event takes place with silent and live auction taking place from 5 - 8 p.m. and is open to the public. Giant Garage Sale and Family Fun Day

Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central Fellowship Baptist Church, 2840 Clapperton St. This event is a fundraiser with proceeds going towards sponsoring a Syrian refugee family. The garage sale has a variety of items up for grabs including clothing, books, household items and furniture. There is live music and cotton candy available. Ferndale Spring Fling Dance

Steps for Life

Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Masich Place Stadium, Steps for Life - Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy - is a fun 5 km fundraising walk to help support families affected by workplace tragedy  The walk aims to educate the community about the devastating ripple effects of each workplace tragedy and how we can work together to prevent others being injured or killed on the job. YMCA Healthy Kids Day

Walk for Alzheimer's

Sunday 1 p.m. is registration, 1:30 start. The Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer's at the UNBC Northern Sport Centre, 3333 University Way, is a great opportunity for communities to rally around this increasingly prevalent disease. Caledonia Ramblers hike

Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Caledonia Ramblers will be leading a moderate hike to Towler Falls near Quesnel. The hike will take three to four hours and cover about five kilometres over gentle slopes. Meet at the city hall parking lot at 7:50 a.m. Car pool fee is $13. International Compost Awareness Week

Monday to Friday, May 6 from 2 to 3 p.m. at REAPS Compost Demonstration Garden, 1950 Gorse St., celebrate International Compost Awareness Week from May 2 to 6. Learn to reuse vegetable waste, instead of allowing it to be trucked off to the landfill. Learn how to compost and have all of questions answered with REAPS this week. Sustainable Agriculture

Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at 1950 Gorse St., REAPS hosts Jody Holmes presenting a series of six presentations from April to September. Each month Jody will present on a different environmental topic sharing his passion, interest and knowledge. This month’s topic is sustainable agriculture. Learn how to grow food using organic fertilizers, biological controls, and primarily mechanical methods of weed control and harvesting. A Man and his Models

Until May 14 Prince George Railway and Forestry Museum, 850 River Road, will honour one of its most generous volunteers Roy Groeneveld with the exhibit called a Man and his Models. Groeneveld worked as a C.N.R. Locomotive Crane Operator from 1957 through 1966. He generously donated many of his intricate models to the museum. For more information call 250-563-7351.

Spruce Capital Seniors

PG Cariboo Toastmasters

Breast Cancer Support Group

Every first and third Tuesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Michael's Anglican Church, 1505 Fifth Ave. Informal conversations about individual breast cancer journeys and experiences from diagnosis through treatment to life after breast cancer. Offering emotional support, encouragement, and a listening ear. Talk with women who have 'been there, done that' and help each other move forward one day at a time. Fiddlers' Jam Sessions

Tai Chi

Tea Time for the Soul

Heartbeat

Every community experiences death by suicide. When an intentionally self-inflicted death occurs families and friends suffer a magnitude of isolated, complicated grief. Because the grief that follows suicide is different from grief resulting from other causes of death the Canadian Mental Health Association formed HEARTBEAT, a group of mutual support for those who have suffered loss through suicide. Story Time at Books & Co.

Every Saturday at 10 a.m. at 1685 Third Avenue enthusiastic storyteller Kayli entertains the children with books and crafts, offering the grown ups a chance to relax in the cafe or browse the bookstore. There is no charge for this event. 

Beginners Yoga 101

First Sunday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at Chinook Yoga Studio, 320 Vancouver St., there is a one hour free workshop in a safe environment where everyone is new. Over the course of this workshop a brief background of yoga is provided and the guests are taken through the foundational postures one at a time, and receive alignment cues, emphasizing what is most important.
